Nick Crowe

Nick Crowe is an extraordinary artist who's works are in my opinion unique, creative and at the same time bizarre. But I was deeply moved and inspired by two of his works . These were:

Operation Telic (2005-2006). Twelve shelves with inset hand-engraved drawings on 2 mm float glass panels, cast plastic and electrics.

The Beheaded (2006).Ceiling-mounted mobile with armatures of powder-coated mild steel, suspending 68 elements cut from 3 mm dichroic glass with Kevlar thread.

"Operation Telic" inspired me because it is a very basic idea, but visually looks very interesting. The contrast between the dark green and black was very effective and his images are interesting with meaning. The way he uses the glass is phenomenal and it has interested me to maybe produce something along these lines.

"The Beheaded" is also another great art piece which involves him using glass, I cant work out the motive behind the positioning of the glass figures, but again the use of colour is very effective and if you look closely these figures have either been projected or reflected onto the wall.
